For 34 Kingston International College (KIC) students, a visit to Murdoch University on 16 September 2026 brought the next stage of their studies a little closer.
The students, who are studying through the KIC–Murdoch University pathway, spent time exploring the Perth campus, meeting university staff and learning about the support available when they move into university study.
It was a chance to look beyond course information and get a feel for the place where they could soon be studying.
Exploring the Campus and Meeting the Community
The visit began with a welcome and introduction, followed by sessions with representatives from Murdoch’s academic colleges and International Relations team. Students learned more about their study options and the services available to support them throughout university.
A guided tour gave the group a closer look at the campus and its facilities. The day finished at the International Café at The Den, where they chatted informally with university staff and students and experienced a little of everyday campus life.
Students found the visit valuable and informative, particularly as they looked ahead to the transition from KIC to Murdoch.
How Does the KIC–Murdoch University Pathway Work?
The KIC–Murdoch University pathway gives eligible students a route from a KIC diploma into a selected Murdoch bachelor’s degree.
Students who successfully complete an eligible diploma and meet Murdoch’s admission requirements may receive up to 24 credit points—equivalent to one year of university study—towards an approved degree.
Available pathways include:
- Business and Hospitality Management diplomas: pathways to the Bachelor of Business.
- Community Services and Early Childhood Education and Care diplomas: pathways to selected majors within the Bachelor of Arts.
The degree options and credit available depend on the diploma completed and the approved pathway arrangements.
For the students who joined the visit, seeing Murdoch in person helped connect these study options with the people and places that could become part of their next chapter.
Helping Students Take the Next Step
A warm thank you to the Murdoch International team, especially Athira Adly and colleagues, for organising the visit and making KIC students feel welcome.
Preparing for university involves more than choosing a degree. Knowing where to go, who to speak to and what support is available can make the move feel more manageable. Visits like this give KIC students an opportunity to start building that familiarity before they begin.
