Sanjay Rungasamy is the Academic Manager (AM) at Kingston International College. His journey in the culinary world began in 1990 when he was 20 years old, driven by a passion for cooking inspired by his parents, who he considers the greatest chefs of all. Starting at the bottom of the kitchen brigade, he quickly climbed the ranks to become an Executive Chef at a five-star hotel within six years.
Sanjay’s career has taken him around the globe, and he eventually settled in Perth in 2000, which he now calls home. He graduated in Culinary Arts with an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management from ASTHM, the best in Western Australia. For the past 20 years, he has dedicated himself to teaching culinary arts, finding immense satisfaction in seeing his students succeed. Many of his former students have become principals, managers, executive chefs, or business owners, both locally and internationally.
As the Academic Manager at Kingston International College, Sanjay is committed to guiding students towards their goals without forcing it. He believes in perseverance and staying focused, encouraging students to stand back, look around, and stay focused if something doesn’t work out initially.
